ABOUT THE ROUTE
This beautiful alpine hike begins in the charming, car-free village of Mürren, situated high above the Lauterbrunnen Valley. From here, the trail gradually leads through alpine meadows beneath dramatic rock walls, offering panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks.
Along the way, we'll pass Swiss farms, wildflowers, and the occasional cowbell soundtrack. With a bit of luck, we might see marmots and eagles. We will walk for about two hours into the Valley, before reaching The Rotstock hut. This mountain lodge is situated at the foot of the Schilthorn and is a perfect place to take a rest, enjoy a delicious alpine-style lunch, think a delicious cheese platter with Swiss specialties, fresh bread, and local treats at an alpine lodge with incredible views.
On the way back, we’ll follow a different trail that leads us to the hidden and picturesque Sprutz waterfall, before continuing down to Gimmelwald—a charming, storybook alpine village. With just around 100 residents, Gimmelwald is a peaceful mountain farming community known for its flower-filled chalets, grazing cattle, and breathtaking views of the towering Jungfrau mountain.
