ABOUT THE ROUTE

This stunning alpine hike begins with a scenic gondola ride from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp, followed by a panoramic mountain train journey to the charming, car-free village of Mürren — situated high above the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

From Mürren, we’ll follow a peaceful trail through wildflower-filled meadows and beneath dramatic cliffs, with idyllic views of the renowned Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. Along the way, we’ll pass traditional Swiss farms and might hear the typical cowbells echoing across the hillsides. Keep your eyes open — we might even spot marmots or eagles!

After about two hours of hiking, we’ll reach the Rotstock Hut, a cozy alpine lodge nestled at the foot of the Schilthorn. It’s the perfect place to take a well-earned break and enjoy a traditional Swiss-style lunch: think local cheese platters, fresh bread, and regional specialties, all served with unbeatable mountain views.

On our way back, we’ll take a different trail leading to the hidden Sprutz waterfall — a picturesque spot tucked away in the forest — before continuing down to the peaceful village of Gimmelwald. With just around 100 residents, Gimmelwald is a peaceful mountain farming community known for its flower-filled chalets, grazing cattle, and breathtaking views of the towering Jungfrau mountain.
