ABOUT THE ROUTE

Situated between dramatic peaks and lush forests, the Rosenlaui Valley is one of the hidden gems of the Swiss Alps. Known for its wild beauty and peaceful atmosphere, this valley feels like stepping into another world. Hanging glaciers, cascading waterfalls, colorful alpine meadows, and the famous Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge make it a dream for hikers, mountain bikers, photographers, and nature lovers. It's a quieter, less-touristy area — perfect for those who want to explore untouched nature and experience the true magic of the Alps.

We will meet in Grindelwald and catch a scenic Gondola up to Schreckfeld (First Gondola) where we will start our hike towards Grosse Scheidegg, a beautiful mountain crossing located at 1.962m. Right from the beginning, you will enjoy spectacular views from famous mountain peaks and stunning glaciers. Our route takes us 5 km to Grosse Scheidegg, a picturesque mountain pass at 1,962 meters offering panoramic views over both the Grindelwald and Rosenlaui valleys.

From Grosse Scheidegg, the trail towards the Rosenlaui Valley winds its way downhill in a series of gentle zigzags, and we will be hiking along a beautiful glacier fed river, through peaceful forests, alpine meadows, and Swiss alpine farms. Rosenlaui is home to the famous Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge and the historic Hotel Rosenlaui, both of which we’ll pass by along our route.

Along the way, we’ll take plenty of time for photos, stories, and enjoy a picnic with local products and incredible views. The tour finishes in the charming village of Meiringen, where we will take the scenic train back to Interlaken, enjoying the most stunning views and deep blue waters of Lake Brienz.
