Your Trail Running Holiday in the Swiss Alps

20 - 24 AUGUST 2O26

Step into your trail running adventure

Day 1 – 20 August

Arrival & welcome evening

Arrive at our beautiful mountain house base, hidden in the magical Rosenlaui valley.

In the afternoon we’ll go for an easy shakeout run around the valley, just to move the legs and get a feel for the incredible place we will be living for the next few days.

In the evening we’ll share an outdoor chef-prepared dinner together, gather around a fire, and go through the plan for the next days.

Day 2 – 21 August

Rosenlaui, Grosse Scheidegg, Grindelwald village.
Distance: 20 km | Elevation: +1040 m /
-1470 m
*Route can be shortened using public transport.

Our first trail starts straight from the house as we make our way up towards Grosse Scheidegg, a beautiful mountain pass with open views down into the Grindelwald Valley. Along the way, you’ll run beneath impressive peaks, follow a glacier-fed river, and pass through quiet forests and local farmland. This involves a steady climb all the way so we’ll mix running with some hiking.

From the pass, we begin a long but steady descent towards Grindelwald on fun, flowing trails. Stunning views to the valley, the Upper and Lower Glacier, and the iconic north face of the Eiger.

Once in Grindelwald, there’s time to relax, grab a good coffee, wander through the village, or try some Swiss specialties. We’ll head back to the house by a tourist bus giving the legs a well-earned rest.

In the evening, we’ll get together for a guided streching session and a relaxed shared dinner made with fresh vegetables from the garden.

Day 3 – 22 August

Grosse Scheidegg to Schynigge Platte.
Distance: 20 km | Elevation: + 1000 m /
- 1100m

On our second day, we head back up to Grosse Scheidegg by bus and set off along one of the most scenic trails in the region. It’s a beautiful, flowing run across open terrain, with constant views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, the Grindelwald Valley, and Lake Brienz in the distance. Expect a mix of ups and downs, very runnable sections, and a few more technical parts where we will be hiking.

Once we get to Schynige Platte, we take the historic train down to the valley before making our way back to Rosenlaui.

In the evening a yoga class will be held outdoprs for those who feel like joining, and we will enjoy an outdoor bonfire and a homecooked shared dinner

Day 4 – 23 August

Mürren, Gimmelwald and Rotstock Hut.
Distance: 12 km | Elevation: +635 m /
-634 m

After breakfast and a morning stretch, we’ll head to the beautiful mountain village of Mürren. Today is a shorter day on the trails as we make our way up to Rotstockhütte, one of our favourite mountain huts in the region.

The route follows local trails through alpine meadows and farmland, with incredible views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. This trail includes a mix of runnable terrain and some steeper hiking sections. At the hut we will enjoy a drink and homemade sweets before heading back down to the valley along a different trail.

For those feeling adventurous, today offers a different way to return to the valley. Instead of running all the way down, you’ll have the chance to paraglide back to the valley floor, one of the most incredible experiences you can have in this region!

As this is our last evening together, we’ll celebrate with a special dinner. We’ll head out for a short night walk with headtorches under the stars, finishing the night around a bonfire with a few extra surprises.

Day 5 – 24 August

Closing day and free exploration

We’ll start the day with a final breakfast together, and gather for a little closure with some surprises.

After that, the day is yours to enjoy the region however you like. If you feel like another adventure, we’re happy to share our favourite suggestions and help organize activities like kayaking, rafting, canyoning, or a via ferrata. You might also prefer to wander through the villages, go for a swim in one of the lakes, or simply relax in a nice cafe.

We’ll help you make the most of your last day.

Plan B

After breakfast and a gentle morning stretch, we start the day with a visit to the Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge, a beautiful, narrow canyon with rushing water and sculpted rock walls. It’s a special place and a nice, easy way to wake up the legs.

From there, we begin the climb up towards Engelhorn Hut. The trail gets steeper here, and we’ll take it at a steady pace, mixing running and hiking as we make our way into more rugged terrain.

At the hut, we take a well-earned break, enjoy the views before heading back down to the valley.

In the afternoon, we slow things down with a yoga session outside, followed by a relaxed dinner and a fire to end the day together.

While the itinerary may be modified for safety or logistical reasons, these are the trails and activities we’ll focus on throughout the week.
