Step into your trail running adventure

Day 1 – 20 August

Arrival & welcome evening

Meeting point will be in Interlaken or Rosenlaui at 12:00 or 13.00. For those arriving later, timings are flexible and we’ll adjust to make things easy.

From Interlaken, we’ll drive to our beautiful mountain house base, located in the magical Rosenlaui Valley.

You’ll have time to settle in before we head out for an easy shakeout run through the heart of the valley, just to move the legs and get a first feel for this incredible place we’ll call home for the next few days. Along the way, we’ll visit the Rosenlaui Gorge, a natural canyon carved by glacial meltwater, with waterfalls and impressive rock formations.

In the evening, we’ll share an outdoor, chef-prepared dinner, gather around the fire, and go through the plan for the days ahead.

Day 2 – 21 August

Rosenlaui, Grosse Scheidegg, Grindelwald village.
Distance: 20 km | Elevation: +900 m/-1100m

Our first trail starts straight from the house as we make our way up towards Grosse Scheidegg, a beautiful mountain pass with open views down into the Grindelwald Valley. Along the way, we’ll run beneath impressive peaks, follow a glacier-fed river, and pass through quiet forests and local farmland. This involves a steady climb all the way so we’ll mix running with some hiking.

From the pass, we begin a long but steady descent towards Grindelwald on fun, flowing trails. Stunning views to the valley, the Upper and Lower Glacier, and the iconic north face of the Eiger.

Before reaching the village, we’ll stop at an authentic mountain hut to refuel with delicious and local cheese and sausage platters, and refreshing drinks. Once in Grindelwald there’s time to relax, grab a good coffee, or wander through the village.

We’ll head back to the house by a tourist bus giving the legs a well-earned rest. In the evening, we’ll get together for a guided streching session and a relaxed shared dinner made with fresh vegetables from the garden.

Day 3 – 22 August

Grosse Scheidegg - Faulhorn - Hinterburgseeli - Axalp.
Distance: 20 km | Elevation: + 1000 m / - 1100m

On our second day, we head back up to Grosse Scheidegg by bus and set off along one of the most scenic trails of the region. On the way to Faulhorn, expect a mix of ups and downs and beautiful views of the surrounding peaks, the Grindelwald Valley, and Lake Brienz in the distance. We pass by Bachalpsee, a famous alpine lake, before continuing toward our second lake of the day, a hidden gem far from the crowds, Hinterburgseeli.

Along the way, we run through quieter local trails, passing scenic waterfalls, alpine farmland, and more remote landscapes. We might spot some wildlife and a variety of local flowers along the trail.

Hinterburgseeli will be our perfect lunch and relax spot, before continuing toward Axalp. The final stretch takes us down to this small mountain village, our finish for the day, with incredible views over Lake Brienz.

In the evening, there’s the option to join an outdoor yoga session and take part in a relaxed, creative workshop. Once again, we’ll get together for dinner and plan our next day.

Day 4 – 23 August

Trachsellauenen, Hotel Obersteinberg & Gimmelwald.
Distance: 14 km | Elevation: +1000 m / -1300 m

After breakfast and a morning stretch, we’ll head to the quieter side of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Today, we make our way up to Hotel Obersteinberg, a beautiful historic mountain hotel and one of our favourite spots in the region.

The start of the route follows a beautiful river and has incredible views of surrounding peaks, waterfalls and glaciers. Expect a mix of runnable terrain and some steeper hiking sections along the way. At the hut, we’ll take a well-earned break to enjoy a drink and some homemade treats before continuing toward Gimmelwald, a cozy and special mountain village.

For those feeling adventurous, instead of taking the gondola back down to the valley floor, there’s also the option for a once-in-a-lifetime paragliding experience over the Swiss Alps from the beautiful village of Mürren!

As this is our last evening together, we’ll celebrate with a special dinner, followed by a short night walk with headtorches under the stars, and finish the night gathered around a bonfire, with a few extra surprises.

Day 5 – 24 August

Closing day and free exploration

The last day is short, so we’ll make the most of it! We start -sunrise- early with a hike up to a local mountain hut situated high above the Rosenlaui Valley. It’s about a 1-hour ascent. The goal is to catch the first light hitting the peaks and arrive at the hut for a well-earned cup of coffee in the calm of the morning.

On the way back down, we’ll enjoy a relaxed descent through the valley, taking in the final views one last time.

Once back at the house, we’ll gather for a relaxed and delicious brunch together and take a moment to close the experience as a group.

The rest of the day is yours: we can help you plan more adventures, sightseeing, trips, or your transportation back home. We’ll share our best local tips for how to make the most of your time in the region, whether that’s another hike, a scenic village, or simply a quiet place to relax before your journey back home.

While the itinerary may be modified for safety or logistical reasons, these are the trails and activities we’ll focus on throughout the week.
