A beautiful secured ridge and lake panorama above Interlaken.

  • Distance: 6 km with an elevation gain of +340 m and a descent of -340 m.

    Hiking time: 2 hours approx.

    Total trip duration: Approximately 5-6 hours.

  • Wilderswil train station at 09.50 am.

    From Wilderswil we will take the cogwheel train to the top of the Schynige Platte mountain to start our hiking loop. It is a 53 minute scenic train ride.

  • Easy to moderate well-developed trails. Moderate fitness level required.

  • Each tour includes a friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate local guide, and a thoughtfully planned route. This particular experience includes a delicious picnic with Swiss delicacies.

  • Transportation (Round-trip cogwheel train): CHF 64 for adults, CHF 20 for children.

ABOUT THE ROUTE

The scenic hiking trail above Schynige Platte provides an unforgettable alpine experience on easy, well-maintained mountain paths. The adventure begins with a one-hour ride on the historic cogwheel train from Wilderswil, offering spectacular views as you ascend into the mountains.

Once we reach the top station, we’ll set off on a 6.5 km hike along a gentle and well-marked trail. The path leads us through vibrant alpine meadows and quiet forests, with continuous views of the majestic Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks, and the Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen Valley. Along the way, we’ll enjoy a nice break with a delicious picnic with Swiss specialties and panoramic views of both Lake Brienz and Lake Thun. If we’re lucky, we might spot marmots lounging nearby.

Surrounded by stunning alpine views, you'll get to try a selection of local cheeses, meats, fresh bread, and other delicious treats. It’s the perfect way to recharge and take in the beauty of the surrounding mountains.
